FAQS

FAQs About Bath Tub Resurfacing, Refinishing, and Reglazing

Q. How long will bath tub resurfacing and ceramic tile surround last?
A. Fortunately, it all depends on you. Just like a new bathtub and tile, the finish will retain a shiny, beautiful look for many years with basic care and maintenance.
Q. Can’t I use a cheap do-it-yourself kit from the store? A. Absolutely – but the results will probably be less than you hope for. For the professional, smooth, glossy, long-lasting finish that you want use a professional you trust. We refinish many failed DIY kits. There is a fee of $89-$199 to remove failed coating from a DIY kit.
Q. How durable are refinished bathtubs? A. All Surface Renew uses the most technologically advanced coating available to us. These finishes are specially designed to stand up to daily use and don’t require special care. Just like a newly manufactured bathtub, a refinished surface can be chipped or scratched if it’s abused.
Q. Do refinished tubs look painted? A. No. The process we use involves using a fine-finish spray gun process, which means you won’t be able to tell the tub has been refinished at all. No brush marks.. You don’t get that with a do-it-yourself refinishing kit from the store.
Q. How long does it take to refinish a bathtub? A. A standard sized bathtub, in reasonable condition, takes between 2-3 hours to refinish. The tub will normally be ready to use within 24 hours.
Q. How does bath tub resurfacing compare to replacement costs? A. Refinishing costs vary across the country but refinishing will almost always be a fraction of the total cost of replacing a bathtub or ceramic tile surround. Replacing a bathtub and surround can easily cost $2200 or more when you consider the cost of removal, plumbing, setting new tile, etc. Refinishing can often save you up to 75% compared to the cost of removal and replacement! Q. Is white the only color you have? A. No. We can match an existing color or create almost any custom color you wish.
